New Features
Proteus 9.1 introduces the all NEW AI assistant - ProPilot (commercial) and ProTutor (educational)! We have also added several other features for both PCB Design and VSM Simulation including Visual Designer for MicroPython.
New features include:

- Introducing EDAi:
Proteus 9.1 introduces EDAi, your intelligent AI design assistant - ProPilot inside the Proteus Design Suite. Powered by the world's most powerful large language models and aware of your design context, Proteus ProPilot is built to help professional engineers move faster, work smarter, and design with more confidence. Whether you are designing analog or digital circuits, validating signal paths, or troubleshooting simulation results, EDAi helps bridge the gap between engineering intent and practical implementation. It offers context-aware insight, supports formula-based reasoning, and brings a deep understanding of electronics to assist with everything from circuit analysis to design verification. As the technology evolves, we believe EDAi will continue to enhance productivity for professional engineers.
ProPilot Movie - Your AI Design Assistant:
ProPilot is your AI design assistant, built to support accurate, standards-driven electronics design. It understands your schematic and applies practical engineering knowledge to help you meet real-world design goals — from signal integrity and power management to timing margins and component derating. ProPilot can assist with formula-based circuit analysis, suggest IPC-compliant design practices, and help you evaluate trade-offs between cost, performance, and reliability. Whether you're refining a feedback loop, choosing passives for a filter, or reviewing decoupling strategies, ProPilot delivers context-aware guidance that helps you move faster while designing with confidence.
ProPilot Design Assistant Movie - Help Assistant:
ProPilot can also act as your help assistant, providing instant access to the full Proteus documentation through a retrieval-augmented interface. It can search across multiple help files, collate relevant content, and deliver focused answers based on your current design context. Because it understands your schematic ProPilot can interpret documentation and guide you step-by-step through practical tasks — whether that’s setting up differential pair routing, configuring design rules, or assigning net classes. Instead of searching manually or switching between modules, you get targeted assistance that’s accurate, actionable, and specific to what you're working on.
ProPilot Help Assistant Movie - ProPilot Coding Assistant:
ProPilot is your embedded coding assistant, designed to streamline development by removing repetitive, low-value tasks and accelerating hardware-aware coding. With visibility of your schematic, it understands which peripherals are used and how they’re wired — including specific pin assignments. This allows it to generate context-accurate setup code for peripherals like timers, I2C, SPI, or ADC modules. ProPilot can also help structure basic control loops or sampling routines, adapting examples to match your design. Beyond code generation, it assists with tasks like refactoring to coding standards, applying Doxygen-style documentation, and improving readability, saving valuable engineering time while maintaining quality and consistency across your firmware.
ProPilot Coding Assistant Movie PCB Design: - Integrated Repo Support:
Proteus now includes integrated repository support for managed libraries, eliminating the need to leave the tool and run external version control commands. Whether you’re using Git or Subversion, you can now link your library manager directly to a local checkout and perform key repo actions — update, commit, and refresh — all within the Proteus interface. This ensures your libraries are always in sync with the central repository and saves time when working across distributed teams.
Version control is fully visible in the library manager with clear overlays indicating part status (e.g. versioned, changed, pending add). Each part in a library carries its own revision information, so even small changes to large libraries are tracked accurately. This makes engineering change orders and product refresh cycles much easier to manage, as you can instantly see which parts are up-to-date and which need updating. The result is a smoother, more reliable workflow for teams adopting managed libraries in production design.
Version Control Movie - Silkscreen design rules:
We’ve added two new Design Rule Checks for silkscreen to help ensure boards pass manufacturing without surprises. The first is Silk–Silk, which flags overlaps between silkscreen objects on the same layer. This prevents blurred or merged markings that can make reference designators unreadable. The second is Silk–Resist, which checks silkscreen against solder mask openings to prevent ink from being printed on exposed pads or mask windows — a common cause of fab rejections or clipped silkscreen.
Because many third-party footprints don’t always meet silkscreen clearance standards, enabling Silk–Resist checking can generate a lot of violations initially. The best way to manage this is by adopting a managed libraries workflow with repo versioning, so you can curate a clean, approved set of parts that comply with your rules. That way, once the libraries are corrected, every new design inherits those improvements automatically, keeping DRC results predictable and manufacturing-ready.
Silk Screen Movie - Visual Designer for MicroPython:
We are pleased to announce our latest product, Proteus Visual Designer for MicroPython and IoT Builder for MicroPython. Visual Designer for MicroPython: Combine flowchart programming with MicroPython scripting, simulate in Proteus, and build IoT dashboards with drag-and-drop controls.
Robot Turtle Simulation: Fun, classroom-ready robotics — from line following to obstacle avoidance, now with multi-colour tracks and collect-and-deposit challenges.
